Summer is a time for slowing down, resting from the heat of the season under the shade of trees and the cool of waters. The soul also enjoys a languid season when it seeks an extended respite from the busyness of our daily lives. Perhaps you have been introduced to Centering Prayer in the past and now need a refresher, or you have practiced contemplative prayer for years and want to deepen your life of prayer. If so, then come to this retreat and rejuvenate your soul amidst the rolling hills and farms of southern Frederick County. Join with Tom Ward, and Bishop Eugene Sutton of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland, for these days of spiritual refreshment.
Presenter: The Rev. Thomas Ward, an Episcopal priest and former Dean of the Chapel at the University of the South, is an experienced teacher of Centering Prayer. He has studied with and continues to learn from Father Thomas Keating, the founder of Contemplative Outreach, a spiritual network of men and women throughout the world committed to the recovery of the contemplative dimension of the gospel in their daily lives.
Cost: $195 to include the conference, room and meals. Checks should be made payable to the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland, with Centering Prayer Retreat on the memo line.
