Lenten Retreat
Camp Weed Episcopal Conference Center
Ecumenical Lenten Retreat with Fr. William Meninger.
"Models of Contemplation"
In 1974 Fr. William Meninger, internationally known Trappist monk, priest and retreat leader, began teaching contemplative prayer according to The Cloud of Unknowing and today takes a limited time each year from his monastic life to travel the world and teach contemplative prayer. In February 2011 Fr. William traveled to Tallahassee to present a series of workshops and lectures on such topics as Julian of Norwich, the Enneagram, the Christian Spiritual Journey, Centering Prayer and Forgiveness. Over 400 people attended the events.
This year he is returning to once again offer workshops in Tallahassee and to offer a weekend retreat experience at Camp Weed that includes prayer, teaching and fellowship. The retreat will focus on deepening our understanding of contemplative prayer through examining the teachings of some of the great Christian mystics. Each retreat day will include teachings and periods of Centering Prayer (Friday and Sunday will include times for conversation and sharing; Saturday will be a day of silence).
This is an ecumenical event sponsored by ten Tallahassee Catholic and Protestant churches, Contemplative Outreach of NW Florida, and the St. John Neumann Center.
Pre-Registration is required. Space is limited and the retreat is expected to fill up very quickly.
Retreat Cost: $200/person (includes two nights lodging and 6 meals). Full payment must accompany the registration. Refunds minus a $75 cancellation fee will be issued if reservation is cancelled in writing by January 12. All rooms are semi-private and you will be assigned a roommate unless you indicate a roommate upon registration.
