Topic: Desert Spirituality: Dry Seasons in the Christian Journey Mar 24-26, 2017. In Christian Spirituality, the desert is understood both as a place of encounter with God and of the sense of God's absence. In this retreat, experienced retreat director, Bonnie Thurston will guide us in considering the metaphor of the desert in the Christian journey by focusing on biblical images of the desert, the desert spirituality of the Gospel of Mark, and the question: Where is God in the 'dry places'? Times of silence will be incorporated into the weekend. Bonnie Thurston is a New Testament Scholar and poet. Her most recent book is Hidden in God: Discovering the Desert Vision of Charles de Foucauld. Bonnie has led retreats and lectured on a wide variety of topics in the U.S. and abroad.

A non-refundable registration fee of $60. is required. Private rooms, $245; shared room, $205/person. Benedictine Sisters Retreat Center. Sacred Heart Monastery, Cullman, AL. for more information www.shmon.org
