Contemplative Outreach
of Long Island/Queens

The following poems are written in the style of the love poetry of the book,
Songs of Songs, in the Old Testament.

They are contemplative however in that they celebrate the advent of God’s presence
at our center and still point.

Following the poems is an article on contemplative prayer and its path.

THOMAS MERTON: A PATHFINDER CONTEMPLATIVE by Robert Trabold Father Carl Arico addressed the Queens/Long Island Centering Prayer chapters on January 26, 2008 and gave talks on the life, works and contribution of Thomas Merton, one of the most eminent spiritual leaders of the 20th century. . . .

 

Silent Saturdays

Two periods of Centering Prayer, viewing a recent video on listening, and participation in a group discussion. We start at 9:30 AM for coffee/tea and start Centering Prayer at 10:00AM. We close the session by 12:00 Noon.

Centering Prayer Weekend Retreat

Friday, Saturday, Sunday, June 27 - 29

This retreat is for beginners in Centering Prayer as well as those advanced in the practice. The retreat offers an opportunity to develop your relationship with God in a prayerful atmosphere of silence, solitude and community support. Periods of Centering Prayer, Lectio Divina, organized presentations, and personal prayer time are scheduled. Yoga is also available.

Location:	St. Ignatius Retreat House, Manhasset
Donation:	$230 for a single room or $195 for a double is requested. All rooms are air-conditioned. A deposit of $50 is needed and full payment is due by June 18th.

END OF SUMMER
GET-AWAY WEEKEND!!!

Enjoy one of the last summer weekends at a lovely villa overlooking the bay and a five minutes drive to ocean beaches. The Sisters of St. Joseph have a relaxing and enjoyable site for our Centering Prayer group to pray, rest, and enjoy the surroundings. A large in-ground pool is available, weather permitting, St. Rosalie Church is just five minutes away in the village for Mass, and the grounds of St. Joseph are amenable for walking and quiet conversations with God and with friends. A flexible schedule will permit visitors to plan their own use of time on Saturday afternoon. Want to be a beachcomber, sightsee, shop, or spend the day in solitude and prayer at the villa? You decide. We will have morning and evening Centering Prayer sessions, Lectio Divina, the recent outstanding film, “Into Great Silence” complete with popcorn! The Sisters are our cooks and will serve dinner on Friday, three meals on Saturday, and Brunch on Sunday. Casual attire and comfortable shoes are recommended.

Cost:	Single or double room accommodations are available Donation is $150 for ROOM, MEALS, AND OUR CONTEMPLATIVE PROGRAM. Deposit of $50 is due by August 15th. The balance $100 is due by September 5th.
