Invitation from God: An interview with Thomas Keating—the second in this COMW retreat series
Saturday, March 20, 2021
9:00am Eastern Time to noon Eastern Time Via Zoom
“We have all we need to merge with the Divine. We’re just not using it. The purpose of Centering Prayer is to unlock this capacity and remove whatever is in the way…”
– Thomas Keating, Invitation from God
At age 83, Thomas Keating met with Danish filmmaker Marie Louise Lefèvre at Saint Benedict’s Monastery in Snowmass, Colorado, for several short interviews on Centering Prayer. The resulting video, Invitation from God (released 2007), is compelling for Keating’s shining conviction in this method and its benefit for all humankind. The filming of the monastery and surrounding mountains’ stark, winter beauty as a metaphor for Keating’s words strengthens his message.
This second, half-day retreat in the series of three delves deep into the process of Centering Prayer. Keating explains both what happens when we’re regularly “in our Inner Room,” receiving the gift of “direct, experiential knowing,” and what that sets into motion.
