SUMMARY:Welcoming Prayer Weekend Retreat
DESCRIPTION:The Welcoming Prayer: Learning to Let Go \nJune 7-9\, 2019 \n  \nThe Welcoming Prayer is a practice designed to deepen our relationship with God through a process of accepting rather than reacting to the present moment. In this three-day retreat\, Tom Ward will lead the group as participants move to dismantle their emotional responses to situations and heal wounds of the past. Periods of silent Centering Prayer will be part of this workshop. As a complement to Centering Prayer\, the Welcoming Prayer empowers individuals to take appropriate action as freely and lovingly as possible in any situation that presents itself. \n  \nNo prior experience with the Welcoming Prayer or Centering Prayer is required to attend this retreat.

SUMMARY:Special Event
DESCRIPTION:SPIRITUAL LEARNING WORKSHOP  	June 9th\, 2019 @ 5:00 PM – June 11th\, 2019 @ 2:00 PM \nAre you curious about spiritual transformation? \nDo you have a Centering Prayer practice? Or a receptive meditation practice? \nThis workshop offers the opportunity to learn how to have spiritual conversations that illuminate your personal story and those of others in the context of relationship and prayer. Both intimate and confidential\, spiritual learning is a practical way of exploring spiritual transformation in community. \nREGISTRATION IS AT <https://www.stmaryssewanee.org/events/spiritual-learning-workshop/> \nSpiritual learning is a set of learnable skills – focusing\, asking\, speaking\, listening\, note-taking\, organizing\, applying and evaluating; aimed at making meaning of individual and collective spiritual transformation; experienced in small groups. \nParticipants will experiment with proven techniques for evoking spiritual insights; increase awareness of spiritual growth\, especially as a form of celebration to deepen joy\, hope and trust; participate in small groups with plenty of support and feedback; and consider options to carry spiritual learning back home\, build it into your own life in ways that expand and enrich\, and share it with your community. \nThe price of this retreat reflects the fact that it is a generously underwritten pilot project. \nThis workshop will provide – \n–A practical model of individual and collective learning \n–Options for mapping the Spiritual Journey and seeing how God has worked in our lives \nParticipants will – \n–Experiment with proven techniques for drawing out spiritual insights \n–Increase awareness of spiritual growth\, especially as a form of celebration to deepen joy\, hope and trust \n–Participate in small groups with plenty of support and feedback \n–Consider options to carry spiritual learning back home\, build it into your own life in ways that expand and enrich\, and share it with your community. \nWhat is spiritual learning? \nSpiritual learning is: a set of learnable skills – focusing\, asking\, speaking\, listening\, note-taking\, organizing\, applying and evaluating; aimed at making meaning of individual and collective spiritual transformation; experienced in small groups. \nFocusing: There are many ways to explore and discover the nature of spiritual transformation! With spiritual learning\, focusing begins with understanding the spectra of spiritual growth and finishes with a specific topic of conversation. Asking is about preparing and proposing good questions. Speaking is about revealing first-hand experiences which often catalyzes awareness and growth. Listening honors others through patience\, kindness and rejoices with the truth. Note-taking is about recording some of what’s discussed. Organizing may result in insights that warrant information sharing. Applying is about deliberating practicing what has been learned. Evaluating is a form of discerning which empowers attribution to significance rather than situations or conditions. \nThe Spiritual Learning Workshop is a first of a kind event for exploring spiritual learning and spiritual growth. \nWho is leading the workshop? \nLarry Todd Wilson: In 2005\, Larry began working with Father Thomas Keating to elucidate the dynamics of spiritual transformation. Since then\, Larry has led initiatives to research and organize information about the Spiritual Journey\, produce a concordance\, adapt knowledge harvesting and organizational learning practices\, conduct interviews with elders\, and establish an open community to craft resources for spiritual learning. Larry’s LinkedIn record: https://www.linkedin.com/in/larrytoddwilson/ \nLeslee Anne Terpay: As a retreat leader\, Leslee authentically transmits Centering Prayer practice and information about the Spiritual Journey. Leslee also serves as a spiritual director in companion relationships to explore how God’s presence and action appear in life experiences and prayer practices. Leslee’s LinkedIn record: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lesleeterpay/ \n
