At Bethany Retreat Center we are pleased to offer private retreats in a peaceful and beautiful setting where you can get away from the cares of everyday life and focus on your faith journey. You may come for a day\, overnight\, or a few days. Join the Sisters for prayer and daily Mass\, walk the grounds\, have opportunity for reconciliation and soul-friending. Enjoy home-cooked meals and a comfortable room in a nurturing environment.  We continue to take the COVID pandemic very seriously and are taking many safety precautions to keep you and our staff safe.  If you do not reside in a COVID “hot spot\,” and are not experiencing any symptoms\, or  have been around anyone that has been exposed to the virus\, you are welcome to come.  Call today! SUMMARY:Centering Prayer Post-Intensive Retreat
DESCRIPTION:The Centering Prayer Post-Intensive Retreat provides an opportunity to deepen the practice of Centering Prayer in an atmosphere of profound silence and community support. There are seven 30-minute periods of Centering Prayer daily. Participants observe Grand Silence for six days of the retreat. The evening gathering will offer a time of praying Holy Scripture in the Lectio Divina method. Retreat leaders are available for soul-friending. John of The Cross \nThe Dark Night is a metaphor and often misunderstood.  It simply means that the human mind is unable to grasp the transformative work that God is effecting in the deepest recesses of the soul.  It is like a ‘darkness’ to our human understanding.  In this weekend retreat\, we will explore how St. John of The Cross charts the fundamental journey of the human spirit where no words satisfy.  The Night of Sense and Night of Spirit proves an inner landscape of the soul\, a geography of the soul that presents the human experience of being wounded and simultaneously\, the experience of being healed by the divine physician.  The ’dark nights’ are an amazing story of grace and human development as told in these images.  This journey provides inspired insight into our contemporary contemplative journey.  The weekend will allow time for presentation\, small group process\, periods of silence and Centering Prayer in contemplative community.  Some knowledge of Centering Prayer will be helpful but not required. \nPresenter: Susan Komis.  \nFri. Bill Sheehan\, Therese Saulnier \nThe St. Lawrence Retreat Center  is located on 25 beautiful acres in Beacon\, NY\, just one and one-half hours north of New York City.  The center is off Route I-84\, and is accessible to Stewart Airport and the Beacon\, NY train station.  The newly renovated\, fully accessible facility has an elevator\, wide hallways and flat\, easily walkable grounds\, ensuring that people of all ages and physical abilities can enjoy this sacred space. \nThe Center  can accommodate up to 20 guests\, including handicap accessible rooms and bathrooms.  Every room has a private bathroom and individual climate control.
