DESCRIPTION:You are invited to take a day or days of personal retreat to focus on your “self care.” How are you taking care of yourself spiritually\, physically and emotionally? At Bethany Retreat Center we are pleased to offer private retreats in a peaceful and beautiful setting where you can get away from the cares of everyday life and focus on your faith journey. You may come for a day\, overnight\, or a few days. Join the Sisters for prayer and daily Mass\, walk the grounds\, have opportunity for reconciliation and soul-friending. Enjoy home-cooked meals and a comfortable room in a nurturing environment.  We continue to take the COVID pandemic very seriously and are taking many safety precautions to keep you and our staff safe.  If you do not reside in a COVID “hot spot\,” and are not experiencing any symptoms\, or  have been around anyone that has been exposed to the virus\, you are welcome to come.  Call today! The cost is $88.00 per night. All meals are included.

SUMMARY:Introduction to Centering Prayer Workshop via Zoom
DESCRIPTION:A weekly\, evening meeting program to provide the basics for people seeking a path to contemplative prayer. Centering Prayer is a receptive method of silent prayer to receive the gift of contemplative prayer\, in which we experience God’s presence within us\, closer than breathing\, closer than consciousness itself. This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship. \nThe first 2 meetings offer a presentation of 1. Prayer as Relationship\, 2. The Method of Centering Prayer\, 3. Thoughts and Use the Sacred Word\, and 4. Deepening Our Relationship with God. \nThe remaining 5 meetings feature videos of Father Thomas Keating on Centering Prayer followed by discussion. \nAt the conclusion of the workshop\, participants are encouraged to find a group in the Meditation Chapel  to join to continue their journey. \nRegister by sending an email to cthompson427@comcast.net. DESCRIPTION:“In any given moment we have access to a connected\, powerful wisdom spanning the entire cosmos; and we can learn to participate in a more complete\, even joyous exchange with it.”\n—Joy Andrews Hayter \nWe are in desperate need of wisdom at this time. And at this very moment\, we are blessed with two powerful lenses through which this wisdom is making herself available to us: contemplative practices like Centering Prayer and the exploding world of science. Wisdom is always present\, within and around us\, ready to respond to our seeking. In these retreat days\, we will attune ourselves to the revelatory relationship between science and spirituality\, between the cosmos and our hearts. \nPlease join us as we engage – mind\, body\, and emotions – in this joyous exchange. How will the virtual retreat work? \nYou are invited to join us from your own home as we practice integrating prayer with our daily lives\, in our homes\, and in our circumstances as they are. Teaching sessions will include experiential\, participatory\, and embodied exercises to draw us more deeply into the healing\, contemplative space. Joy is dedicated to fostering contemplative practices such as Centering Prayer and others within the Christian Wisdom tradition that help us become aware of God’s ever-present love. As a scientist she sees in the physical world an expression of that love. \nCatherine Regan\, Ph.D. is a spiritual director\, retired psychologist\, and adjunct staff member at Mercy Center\, primarily serving on the Centering Prayer team. She has a special interest in participating in the reclamation of the Christian Wisdom tradition and fostering the contemplative practices so urgently needed at this time in our world. \nHeather Ruce\, M.A. is a wisdom spiritual director with a background as a therapist and training in a neurophysiology based approach to trauma resolution.
