DESCRIPTION:You are invited to take a day or days of personal retreat to focus on your “self care.” How are you taking care of yourself spiritually\, physically and emotionally? At Bethany Retreat Center we are pleased to offer private retreats in a peaceful and beautiful setting where you can get away from the cares of everyday life and focus on your faith journey. You may come for a day\, overnight\, or a few days. Join the Sisters for prayer and daily Mass\, walk the grounds\, have opportunity for reconciliation and soul-friending. Enjoy home-cooked meals and a comfortable room in a nurturing environment.  We continue to take the COVID pandemic very seriously and are taking many safety precautions to keep you and our staff safe.  If you do not reside in a COVID “hot spot\,” and are not experiencing any symptoms\, or  have been around anyone that has been exposed to the virus\, you are welcome to come.  Call today! The cost is $88.00 per night. All meals are included.

SUMMARY:Introduction to Centering Prayer Workshop via Zoom
DESCRIPTION:A weekly\, evening meeting program to provide the basics for people seeking a path to contemplative prayer. Centering Prayer is a receptive method of silent prayer to receive the gift of contemplative prayer\, in which we experience God’s presence within us\, closer than breathing\, closer than consciousness itself. This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship. \nThe first 2 meetings offer a presentation of 1. Prayer as Relationship\, 2. The Method of Centering Prayer\, 3. Thoughts and Use the Sacred Word\, and 4. Deepening Our Relationship with God. \nThe remaining 5 meetings feature videos of Father Thomas Keating on Centering Prayer followed by discussion. \nAt the conclusion of the workshop\, participants are encouraged to find a group in the Meditation Chapel  to join to continue their journey. \nRegister by sending an email to cthompson427@comcast.net. SUMMARY:Entering the Bridal Chamber of the Heart: The Luminous Gospels
DESCRIPTION:This retreat will explore the Christian Wisdom tradition\, focusing on the extracanonical Gospels of Thomas and Mary Magdalene. These so-called Luminous Gospels came to light in the mid-20th century and provide new insight into the development of early Christianity\, the foundations of Jesus’ teaching\, and the authority of Mary Magdalene as an Apostle. Come join us on the journey as we spend time within a contemplative framework of silent prayer\, teaching\, chanting\, lectio divina\, and heart-centered\, whole-body practice. \nPresented by: The Reverend Matthew Wright is an Episcopal priest\, retreat leader\, and long-time student of Cynthia Bourgeault. He serves as priest-in-charge at St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church in Woodstock\, NY and as a teacher for Northeast Wisdom and the Contemplative Society\, non-profits dedicated to the renewal of the Christian Wisdom tradition.
