Thomas Keating \nWe invite all contemplatives to come celebrate Contemplative Outreach St. Louis 35th Anniversary with a four day retreat led by Patricia Johnson\, who worked closely with Fr. Thomas Keating at St. Benedict Monastery in Snowmass\, CO since 1984. From 1984 on Pat served retreats at the monastery and world-wide.\n Pat recalls:\n“Having access to Thomas Keating for so many years gave me a foundation that still has me in a state of awe and wonder. His humor\, his brilliance\, his humility\, all have had a huge impact on my being.  But…most of all\, his humanness is what formed me.”\nWe joyfully welcome Pat to her first visit to St Louis to celebrate and to share her first-hand experiences of Fr. Thomas Keating. \nThis Centering Prayer Retreat is for those who wish to come together to celebrate our deepening relationship with the God of our understanding and to celebrate with those who have served to open the door to contemplative prayer and spirituality and all those who have been nourished along the way.\nLong term practitioners and those new to the practice are welcome. \nThroughout the weekend we will share daily Centering Prayer sessions and provide opportunities for silence interspersed with Pat’s reflections about the transformative movements of 40 years of Contemplative Outreach Ltd. and her observations of the growth\, challenges\, set backs and joys of the contemplative prayer journey. In addition\, there will be offerings of yoga\, a 12-Step meeting\, private soul-friending sessions and time to explore the sacred spaces of the 72 acres of Mercy Retreat and Conference Center’s wooded campus. \nRetreat Arrival: Thursday\, August 8\, 2024\, between 4:00 pm- 5:00 pm.\nRetreat Ends: Sunday\, August 11\, 2024 after 12:00 pm lunch\nCelebration: Saturday Evening Contemplative Service 4:00 pm Dinner and Festivities 5:30pm-8:00 pm ($52 for dinner only)\nRetreat Fee: $545 with discount for registration received before June 20th and discounts for shared bath accommodations. \nFee covers room and all meals including Saturday evening celebration dinner. Are you interested in deepening your current practice but would like a refresher and connection with other practitioners? Join us for “Meet God in a New Way: An Introduction to Centering Prayer\,” as the next step in your journey of connecting with God through the practice of centering prayer. \nLet praying without words\, in deep silence and openness\, draw you closer to God. Come to realize the beauty of holiness in using what modern contemplative Thomas Keating called “God’s first language.” This retreat follows the national Contemplative Outreach Ltd. approach\, combining short presentations\, two Centering Prayer practice sessions\, and ample time for questions and discussion. \nThis retreat is open to anyone\, whether you have a longtime Centering Prayer practice or have never tried this form of prayer. There’s enrichment and insight for everyone. \nDoors open at 8:30 a.m. for coffee\, tea\, and bagels. Ample parking is available.
