SUMMARY:Heartfulness: Transformation in Christ – via Zoom
DESCRIPTION:Heartfulness is the sixth in a series of eight courses in the Spiritual Journey Series. In this series Fr. Thomas guides the listener toward an understanding of the contemplative dimension of the Gospel and its extraordinary implications and applications for personal freedom and global peace. Fr. Thomas calls this the journey of heartfulness\, and says that Centering Prayer might be thought of as heartfulness. Centering Prayer as contemplative prayer is a reflection on the mysteries of faith that has been digested and reflected upon and expressed in acts of love until it has simplified into a movement of the will that is becoming quasi-permanent – a way of occupying the mind and transferring it to the heart so that with practice it becomes more “heartfulness” than “mindfulness”. \nThis is a nine-week course officially starting on Thursday\, January 9 2025\, at 6:30 pm Mountain Time. \nA wide range of topics is covered in this course. The topics for each week are: \nWeek 1 – The Pursuit of Happiness\nWeek 2 – The Human Condition\nWeek 3 – Centering Prayer\nWeek 4 – Sin\nWeek 5 – Suffering\nWeek 6 – Redemption\nWeek 7 – Love and The Trinity\nWeek 8 – Divine Indwelling\nWeek 9 – Divine Transformation \nEach week\, we will begin with Centering Prayer. Your facilitators will provide an introduction to the topic for the week and we will watch the video (20 to 25 minutes) together. Then we will take a break and you will look over the questions to be discussed in the break-out groups. Discussion will take place in the break-out groups and we will gather together once again to close out the class. \nTime Listed are Mountain Time (Denver\, Colorado)\nClick the website link below to register. Scholarships are available.

SUMMARY:Centering Prayer Summit via Zoom: "Learning to See in the Dark"
DESCRIPTION:Learning to See in the Dark\nA 2-day Journey of Opening to Mystical Hope in a Collective Dark Night \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat if the darkness we face—alone and together—helps us uncover the hope already within us? \nIn a time when uncertainty\, division\, and collective weariness touch nearly every soul\, many of us find ourselves navigating both personal shadows and a world that feels increasingly dim. Yet the contemplative path reminds us that even in the darkest places\, something tender and resilient is already at work within us. \nThis year’s 5th Annual Centering Prayer Summit offers a sacred space to meet this moment with honesty and openness. Together we will explore how the dark night—both personal & collective—can become a place of awakening rather than despair\, a place where the deeper Light that has never stopped shining\, begins to make itself known. \nThrough shared stillness\, in-depth teaching\, and real-time interaction\, you’ll experience how Centering Prayer opens us to the quiet hope already alive within: a hope not dependent on circumstances\, but rooted in the Presence that holds us all. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor more information\, schedule and to register\, please see the link below.

SUMMARY:Centering Prayer Retreat
DESCRIPTION:This retreat\, offered from Tuesday\, February 10 till Friday\, February 13\, 2026\, at Holy Cross Monastery on the Hudson River in New York State\, offers opportunities for both those new to the Centering Prayer and those who have an established practice. During the retreat\, one will experience integrating contemplation and action through silence\, solitude\, community and the rhythm of this Episcopal Benedictine monastic community’s worship and prayer life. \nThe retreat offers two tracks. For those new to Centering Prayer\, the basic essentials of the method and conceptual background of Centering Prayer will be presented. SUMMARY:5-Day Centering Prayer Retreat
DESCRIPTION:This five-day Centering Prayer retreat will be directed by Fr. Bill Sheehan\, OMI. \nIn his book\, That God May be All in All\, Fr. Thomas Keating tells us that what mystics have always said\, scientists are now saying: That all that is comes from One Source. Father Bill would like to explore the meaning of this statement during our time together. May these days of silence\, presentation and Centering Prayer be an opportunity to explore and experience our One Source. \nPlease see the link below for more information and to register.

SUMMARY:Virtual Silent Saturday with Fr. William Sheehan - via Zoom
DESCRIPTION:Virtual Silent Saturday with Fr. William Sheehan\nExperience the Goodness of Our Life And Being through Our Consents to God\nSaturday February 21 8:30am-2:30pm Eastern Standard Time \nContemplative Outreach of Columbus is offering a Silent Saturday. A Silent Saturday provides a few hours that are set aside for Centering Prayer\, Lectio Divina\, spiritual teaching and reflection. “Come rest awhile with the Lord” this Lent. \nFr. Bill will be discussing the ongoing process of our integration in relation to Four Consents. These consents serve as a framework for understanding the spiritual journey and correspond to the stages of our life. The four consents include accepting the goodness of our being\, accepting the goodness of our creative energy while developing our talents\, experiencing God as we face and consent to the diminishment of aging\, and ultimately\, saying yes to our transformation. \nFr. Bill is a priest and member of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate. He was present at the Lama retreat convened by Fr. Thomas Keating OCSO which founded Contemplative Outreach. He has led countless centering prayer workshops and retreats. \nExpect that the day will begin at 8:30am and last until 2:30pm. EST \nRegister by sending an email to Bob Gorman at rbrtgorman@protonmail.com and a zoom link will be sent to you a few days in advance. The event is free.

SUMMARY:Aging as a Spiritual Practice
DESCRIPTION:No doubt that aging is an emotional\, physical\, and psychological experience for many of us as we grow older. The journey is made more complex because our culture does not support us as we transition from the celebrated stage of youth to elderhood. It is\, therefore\, very important that we find another way—a more “excellent way” as St. Paul said—to traverse the path. \nThis retreat will offer spiritual practices from the disciplines of Centering Prayer and Buddhist meditation that will not only help us navigate the aging process but enable us to thrive in the process. \nMeet the Presenter\nThe Rev. Carlyle Gill has been an Episcopal priest for nearly 50 years and a practitioner of Centering Prayer for 25 years. She has led many Centering Prayer introductory retreats\, as well as longer retreats. \nTime listed is in Eastern Standard Time. Please see the link below to register.

Thomas Keating and what they have to offer our own continuing spiritual evolution today. \nAs Thomas more and more fully embraced his nondual awakening\, he began to write and see from a perspective rarely attained in the Christian mystical tradition\, significantly “growing” the Christian spiritual roadmap in the direction of his signature brand of “flowing oneness.” \nThrough teaching\, dialogue\, guided meditations — and mostly through the practice of Centering Prayer itself — David and Cynthia will jointly explore how he charts this new course —and more important\, how he has planted practical seeds to bring our practice of Centering Prayer to the next level. \nPracticing Centering Prayer in light of the God of unity consciousness grounds us\, more and more\, in a reality that cannot be shaken by the crises of separation\, disruption\, and disintegration we are living through. From greater oneness through Centering Prayer flows the subtlety of contemplative service: God in us serving God in others. \nCommuter option available. Please see the link below for more information and to register. \n

SUMMARY:The Welcoming Prayer
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Mary Dwyer \nAs a companion to Centering Prayer\, Welcoming Prayer focuses on the disturbances that beset our daily life and allows us freely to acknowledge and surrender their power to God. We begin to respond rather than automatically react to life on life’s terms. As the originator of Welcoming Prayer\, Mary Mrozowski\, said\, “To welcome and to let go is one of the most radically loving\, faith-filled gestures we can make in each moment of each day. It is an open-hearted embrace of all that is in ourselves and in the world.” During this half-day online retreat\, we will learn about the conceptual background and the method of The Welcoming Prayer\, and we will practice it in community. \nMeet Mary Dwyer \nAn early student of Fr. Thomas Keating\, Mary has been practicing Centering Prayer since the 1980s. In the early 1990s\, she lived at Chrysalis House\, a contemplative community in Warwick\, New York\, blessed by Fr. Keating\, with housemates who included Mary Mrozowski\, David Frenette and Cathy McCarthy. The community became an incubator of practice and programs in the early years of Contemplative Outreach’s growth. Mary calls this period her “inpatient” or “residential treatment time” that proved to her that a life of prayer\, consent\, and practice is real\, stable\, and deeply rewarding. \nMary has given years of service to Contemplative Outreach\, Ltd.\, including as a member of the Contemplative Outreach Faculty and Gift Committee\, coordinator for the Living Flame program\, and coordinator of the Miami Chapter. In January she stepped down as chairperson of the COL Governing Board. She continues to serve the Finance/Legal Team and the Welcoming Prayer Service Team. \nMary now divides her time between private practice as a licensed clinical social worker and leadership of retreats and workshops on behalf of Contemplative Outreach throughout the US and internationally. She lives with her husband in Erie\, PA. \nPlease see the link below to register.

SUMMARY:11th-Step Retreat
DESCRIPTION:The retreat will offer an environment of solitude and silence in community with time for reflection\, fellowship\, and 12-Step meetings. We will present an Introduction to Centering Prayer in the context of 12-Step recovery. \nThe vision of 12 Step Outreach is to pass on the gift of Centering Prayer and related Spiritual Practices to improve our conscious contact with a God of our understanding\, wherever there is a desire for deeper healing from anyone in 12-Step recovery. (View their website cp12stepoutreach.org) \nCentering Prayer is a simple method of prayer rooted in ancient Christian practice that opens us to God’s presence and divine healing. Some of the fruits you may experience with a regular practice of Centering Prayer include enrichment of one’s prayer life\, being able to ‘let go’ in the course of daily life\, a non-judgmental attitude toward others\, growth in self-knowledge\, the ability to live in the present moment\, and love and respect for others and all creation. \nPlease see the link below for more information and to register (scroll down for the desire event).
