SUMMARY:From Stillness to Being: Introductory Weekend in Centering Prayer
DESCRIPTION:Get to know Centering Prayer\, a silent meditation form of letting go. Let the silence carry you and let the music move you in your vitality. \nCentering Prayer is an ancient\, simple and silent form of meditation. What makes it special is the welcome of the inexorable flow of thoughts and feelings. Centering prayer is not something we do; it’s something we stop doing; we do let go and return to our innermost being. Our conditioning lies like a veil over our inner being and allows us happiness and the meaning of our lives in things\, feelings\, relationships\, activities\, substances search – ultimately in vain. Through the recurring letting go in Centering Prayer over time some of our conditioning may dissolve. \nMusic-driven movement and our creativity are two other avenues to get through sheaths of our conditioning to come to our core. SUMMARY:Lectio Divina Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Lectio Divina literally means “divine reading”. It is an ancient practice of praying the Scriptures. During the prayer period\, the pray-er listens to a brief passage with “the ear of the heart” in conversation with God. In this one day workshop participants will learn how to practice Lectio Divina\, as well as hearing something of its history in the Christian tradition. They will also be given an opportunity to experience the process. As with Centering Prayer\, Lectio Divina leads to contemplative prayer. Unlike Centering Prayer\, thoughts\, images\, and insights are fostered as steps to intimacy with God. Both are part of the transformation process\, restoring the one praying to union with God. \nLunch is provided.
