DESCRIPTION:Contemplative Enrichment Day with Douglas Hertler \nIn the context of a Contemplative Day of Community\, Experience\, and Sharing\, Doug presents an act of storytelling that explores the dynamics of the false self as seen through the eyes of an actor whose very vocation called him to become someone other than himself. Written and presented by Douglas Hertler (known professionally as Doug Lory)\, this one-man show depicts his unexpected and life-changing encounter with the writings of Thomas Merton\, most notably Merton’s classic\, No Man Is an Island. \nThis program will include a morning and an afternoon session of Centering Prayer. \nDouglas Hertler (aka Doug Lory) is an actor\, playwright\, retreat leader\, and NYC tour guide. His career has included roles in television\, film\, and theater. Doug is also an actor/educator at Fordham University School of Law. The Welcoming Prayer helps to dismantle acquired emotional programs that underly what we are experiencing. It addresses them where they are stored – in the body.
