SUMMARY:The Good Eye Opens: An Introduction to Contemplative Photography (in-person and online)
DESCRIPTION:A Zen teacher observed that the moment we intellectualize what we see\, it is no longer what we saw. Contemplative photography invites a different way of seeing—direct\, fresh perception unfiltered by thought. From a still\, silent\, receptive mind\, mindful photographing opens a richer visual field beyond concepts\, revealing greater beauty\, clarity\, elegance\, and poignancy. This is not merely a photography workshop\, but a practice of cultivating nonconceptual awareness\, allowing the camera to express perceptions precisely as they arise in present-moment experience without distraction or judgment. \nThis program will be offered both in-person and online via Zoom. Information on how to access the program on Zoom will be sent to participants in advance. \nThis program will include morning and afternoon sessions of Centering Prayer. Times listed are in Eastern (New York) time.

SUMMARY:Praying with the Aramaic Jesus: Finding Inspiration and Purpose (via Zoom)
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Joy Andrews Hayter \nYou all are shining radiance\, flowing together in time outside of time. Let go of trying to define or limit yourselves\, boxing in the radiance within: but let your inner light bear witness to the Holy within you\, shining forth all around you. —Matthew 5:14-15\, an interpretation from the Peshitta* text in Aramaic \nAs you read the passage above\, how does it sit with you? What sensations\, feelings\, images come up for you? \nWe already know that the words of Jesus are full of inspiration and advice on how to live a life with purpose and meaning\, anchored in the Living One. When we look at the words from the Aramaic—the language Jesus spoke—even more dimensionality shines forth\, almost like a prism that splits white light into its many colors. These additional dimensions tell us about our wholeness\, our oneness with the divine\, and about the love that can shine through us\, illuminating and inspiring our neighbors. \nYou might be wondering how this version of scripture above emerged so differently from what we read in a standard bible. The roots of many Aramaic words have multiple meanings\, inviting us to multiple levels of inference and exploration. In particular\, when we approach these readings with a deeper consciousness\, we may find these interpretations to be delightful fruit for our prayer life—our intimate walk with Ultimate Reality. \nIn this experiential presentation\, Joy will: \nShare how Jesus and his followers used Aramaic in their time.\nLead us in chants using the Aramaic language so we can explore the language’s pure sounds as Jesus (“Yeshua” in Aramaic) would have heard them.\nExplore two scripture verses with us in the style of Lectio Divina\, with a time for sharing.\nOur time together will also include 20 minutes of Centering Prayer. \nThis experience may inspire you to discover more dimensions within your own being\, and provide insight into how we might express the love that Yeshua encourages us to share. This presentation will include a Centering Prayer session. \nRecording Note: This event will be recorded. All registrants will receive a copy of the Zoom recording within two weeks of the event. \nTimes listed are Mountain Time\, Denver\, Colorado \nClick the website link below to learn more and register. Scholarships are available.

SUMMARY:Contemplative Movement: Bringing Your Body into Your Practice
DESCRIPTION:Centering Prayer provides many spiritual and emotional benefits. It leads us to an inner peace and connection to the Divine. In this experiential event we will practice how to bring that peace into your body\, and into your interactions with others. \nWe will engage in Barbara Dilley’s Contemplative Dance Practice. This practice incorporates seated meditation with improvised movement\, witnessing\, and collaboration. Participants will be guided through a warm-up and an explanation of the practice. After we practice\, we will spend some time discussing our experiences. No prior experience with dance\, movement\, or meditation necessary. This practice is suitable for all levels and abilities. We will have a period of Centering Prayer in this event. \nPlease see the link below to register.

SUMMARY:Guard of the Heart – via Zoom
DESCRIPTION:“One practice to bring the effects of contemplative prayer into daily life is traditionally known as “Guard of the Heart.” This consists of letting go of every emotional disturbance as it arises and before we start thinking about it. This method is more sophisticated than dismantling the emotional programs for happiness because it deals with the whole of life. It expresses our ongoing intention to be with God in the present moment and sustains it.” (Fr. Thomas Keating\, 2017) \nThis class will teach the practice of “Guard of the Heart” (Also referred to as “Watchfulness” or “Presence Practice”) and how it compliments our Centering Prayer\, and the practices of the Welcoming Prayer and the Active Prayer Phrase. We will learn the three ways any afflictive thought or emotional disturbance can be instantly released as it arises. Join us for this enriching and deepening complementary practice. This class will include one 20-minute Centering Prayer session. \nTimes listed are Mountain Time. \nClick the website link below to learn more and register. Scholarships are available.

SUMMARY:Becoming Aware and Releasing Obstacles to Grace Through Centering Prayer (in-person and online)
DESCRIPTION:Mythic membership consciousness invites us to examine not only the groups and institutions we over‑identify with to belong\, but also the beliefs\, values\, family norms\, and cultural patterns that shape us. Through Centering Prayer\, we become aware of the emotional programs through which we seek happiness and belonging. While belonging is central to spiritual life\, this workshop invites us—through silence\, reflection\, and contemplative journaling—to gently release attachments that inhibit grace and open us to God\, freedom\, and deeper relationship with all creation. \nThis program will be offered both in-person and online via Zoom. Information on how to access the program on Zoom will be sent to participants in advance. \nThis program will include morning and afternoon sessions of Centering Prayer. \nTimes listed below are in Eastern (New York) Time.

SUMMARY:Introduction to Lectio Divina (via Zoom)
DESCRIPTION:Listen to the text of the Bible with the “ear of the heart.” \nLectio Divina\, a Latin term for “divine reading\,” is an ancient monastic practice of praying the scriptures. The monks would gather in prayer and hear the scripture proclaimed. They would take a word or phrase that spoke to them into the activity of their day. Pondering this thought\, ruminating on it throughout their work\, they were aware of God’s presence. \nLectio Divina is a traditional way of cultivating friendship with Christ. It is a way of listening to the texts of scripture as if we were in conversation\, with Christ suggesting the topics. This daily encounter with Christ leads beyond mere acquaintanceship to an attitude of friendship\, trust and love. The conversation simplifies and gives way to communing. \nDuring Lectio Divina\, the practitioner listens to the text of the Bible with the “ear of the heart\,” as if one is in conversation with God. Lectio Divina includes moments of reading (lectio)\, reflecting on (meditatio)\, responding to (oratio) and resting in (contemplatio) the Word of God with the aim of nourishing and deepening one’s relationship with the Divine. \nHow is Lectio Divina Different from Bible Study \nBible Study is the reading of the scriptures for information and an understanding of the context of the passage. It provides a solid conceptual background for the practice of Lectio Divina. In contrast\, Lectio Divina is prayer that leads us into the deeper meaning of scripture and the transformation of our lives. This contemplative reading and listening of the scriptures is compatible with well-grounded interpretation of the Bible. \nLectio Divina will bring you into a more intimate sense of the presence of God in the word of scripture\, and you will experience the grace this word has to influence\, and indeed\, to transform your life. \nIn this workshop\, you will learn the basics of Lectio Divina\, experience it in a guided setting\, and be able to ask questions and share experiences with the presenter and your fellow participants. \nRecording Note: This event will be recorded. All registrants will receive a copy of the Zoom recording within two weeks of the event. \nTimes listed are mountain time\, Denver\, Colorado \nClick the website link below to learn more and register. SUMMARY:I AM – the sacred doorway of the Aramaic Heart of Jesus (in-person and online)
DESCRIPTION:The seven “I AM” statements in John’s Gospel reveal Jesus’ identity. Through Dr. Neil Douglas-Klotz’s heart-centered Aramaic lens\, they also illuminate our own identity and path to deeper Divine Presence. \nThis Christian contemplative day explores these sayings with a focus on Presence\, belonging\, and connection to God. We’ll engage through guided reflection\, chant\, embodied awareness\, and quiet prayer—listening for each phrase’s living resonance in an unhurried\, nurturing space. \nThis program will be offered both in-person and online via Zoom. Information on how to access the program on Zoom will be sent to participants in advance. \nThis program will include a morning and an afternoon session of Centering Prayer. \nAll are warmly welcome to rest\, receive\, and rediscover these timeless teachings. \nTimes listed below are in Eastern (New York) Time.

SUMMARY:God of Evolution: From Earth Community to Omega Love — Thomas Berry and Ilia Delio in Dialogue (in person and online)
DESCRIPTION:What if evolution is the arena of God’s presence? This contemplative workshop explores the converging visions of Thomas Berry and Ilia Delio\, who invite a faith spacious enough for science\, Earth\, and cosmos. Berry awakens us to the sacred Earth community and our place within the universe’s unfolding story. Delio\, drawing on evolutionary science and the Franciscan tradition\, proclaims Christ as Omega Love at the heart of an unfinished universe. Through reflection\, dialogue\, and practice\, we will explore evolution as sacred story and ecological healing as spiritual conversion. \nThis program will be offered both in-person and online via Zoom. Information on how to access the program on Zoom will be sent to participants in advance. \nThis program will include morning and afternoon sessions of Centering Prayer. \nTimes listed below are in Eastern (New York) Time.

SUMMARY:The Christian Contemplative Path: Journeying Beyond True Self to No Self
DESCRIPTION:This day offers a transformative exploration of the Christian contemplative and mystical tradition\, guiding participants through the classic stages of the spiritual path—Purgative\, Illuminative\, and Unitive—and culminating in the profound realization of “No Self\,” where all constructs of self dissolve and only God’s Presence remains. Drawing on the wisdom of both classical and modern Christian mystics\, including Bernadette Roberts\, Fr. Thomas Keating\, and Cynthia Bourgeault\, we will examine how this journey leads beyond union to the mystery of selfless presence. Participants will gain practical tools and spiritual insights to support their ongoing journey and how that might align with Contemplatives from other Spiritual traditions. \nThis program will be offered both in-person and online via Zoom. Information on how to access the program on Zoom will be sent to participants in advance. \nThis program will include morning and afternoon sessions of Centering Prayer.

SUMMARY:Cosmogenesis: Awakening Faith in an Evolving Universe (in-person and online)
DESCRIPTION:This contemplative day invites participants into the sacred story of cosmogenesis—the unfolding of the universe as a dynamic expression of divine love. Ilia Delio\, who has pioneered this evolutionary vision\, will offer her foundational perspectives as she guides our exploration of creation as ongoing\, Christ as the heart of an evolving cosmos\, and faith as conscious participation in Love’s becoming. Through reflection\, silence\, and shared inquiry\, we will reimagine prayer\, belonging\, and hope within an unfinished universe alive with God’s presence \nThis program will be offered both in-person and online via Zoom.
