Periods of Centering Prayer will be included in our time together. There will be discussion following each of Fr. Sheehan’s presentations. SUMMARY:Contemplative Retreat: Five- or Eight-Day Centering Prayer Retreat

SUMMARY:Five-Day Intensive/Post-Intensive Centering Prayer Retreat
DESCRIPTION:In Contemplative Outreach (CO) Centering Prayer retreats\, practitioners are given an opportunity to deepen their practice and relationship with God by joining with others in community for the experience of immersion in contemplative prayer apart from ordinary life. Retreats are a way to take one’s relationship with God and one’s practice deeper. They offer time and space away from the busyness and demands of daily life\, and allow the mind\, body\, and spirit to surrender to God’s presence and action within. \nThis retreat will offer two tracks — Intensive and Post-Intensive. The retreat will be held at the Benedictine Hospitality Center in Ferdinand\, Indiana. \nThe Benedictine Hospitality Center is operated by the Sisters of St. Benedict\, one of the largest Benedictine communities of women in the United States. Monastery Immaculate Conception was founded in 1867 by four young Benedictine sisters who came to Ferdinand to teach the children of area settlers. \nPlease see the link below for more information and to register.

SUMMARY:4-Day Contemplative Retreat
DESCRIPTION:“In the stillness of Centering Prayer\, we learn to rest in God\, not as an idea\, but as a living presence that transforms us from within.”\n– Cynthia Bourgeault \nSharing silent prayer in the context of a retreat offers a profound experience of soul-to-soul connection — with fellow practitioners and with all living beings. \nThis 4-day retreat is designed to nourish the soul’s deep longing for intimacy with God\, inviting participants into a transformative journey through contemplation and the sacred practice of silence. \nHeld entirely in silence\, the retreat includes: \nTwo daily input sessions to deepen understanding of the Centering Prayer method and reflect on the contemplative path;\nMultiple periods of Centering Prayer each day;\nOpportunities for soul sharing with the guide (if desired);\nPersonal time for reflection and journaling. \nIt is recommended that participants have attended either a weekend Centering Prayer retreat or a one-day introductory workshop and maintain some level of ongoing practice. \nPlease see the link below for more information and to register.

SUMMARY:Centering Prayer: Lectio Divina and the Four Senses of Scripture
DESCRIPTION:This “Praying Holy Scripture” retreat offers Centering Prayer periods plus presentations based upon Fr. Thomas Keating’s teachings on the deepening levels of faith: the Four Senses of Scripture – literal\, allegorical\, behavioral/moral\, and unitive senses. The presentations teach a contemplative way of listening to and reading Scripture known as the ancient monastic practice of Lectio Divina. During the retreat\, one will experience the interplay of the silence of Centering Prayer and Praying Holy Scripture combined with the rhythm of this Episcopal Benedictine monastic community’s worship and prayer life including Holy Eucharist. This contemplative retreat welcomes those comfortable with silence and yearning to learn this ancient way of praying rather than studying Holy Scripture. \nCheck-in is from 2:00 to 5:00 pm Tuesday. Vespers begins at 5:00. Supper then follows. Orientation begins at 6:45 pm. The retreat concludes with noon meal on Friday. (Daily Holy Eucharist is available at 9:00 a.m.). \nThe suggested donation for the retreat is $445. The retreat fee includes a single room and all meals. Shared single occupancy bathrooms in the hallways. To register\, please contact our Guesthouse Office by phone at +1-845-384-6660\, ext. 3002 or email guesthouse@hcmnet.org. The guesthouse office is open from Tuesday till Friday. \nLeslee Anne Terpay: As a Contemplative Outreach Commissioned Presenter of Centering Prayer and Lectio Divina\, Leslee shares Fr. Thomas Keating’s teachings on the Christian Spiritual Journey to Love in workshop and retreat settings. She is part of the Service Teams that steward Fr. Thomas’s teaching for serving Intensive Retreats and Lectio Divina. She is a spiritual director in Lone Tree\, Colorado and a graduate of The Center for Action and Contemplation Living School.

SUMMARY:Contemplative Living II: Daily Life as Prayer - via Zoom
DESCRIPTION:Further enrich your contemplative living and embrace the practice of living each day as a form of prayer. In Contemplativing Living I (CL I)\, the focus was on deepening your interior prayer life\, leading to the awareness of God’s presence in all that is. The interior life cultivated in CL I brings you to greater humility and vulnerability and lowers your defenses. You might think of it as standing naked before the God of Love. \nIn Contemplative Living II (CL II)\, the focus shifts towards increased intentionality in how you are living your daily life. You likely have a better understanding of what blocks you in deepening your relationship with God\, others\, and even with yourself. You are now more capable of looking at your part in relationships and what gets in the way of being and becoming the person God created you to be. Building on the contemplative practice learned in CL I\, in CL II you will assess where you are in your life and how you can make choices aligning with your authentic self. \nPlease see the link below.
