On Friday, a group of 16 migrants from South and Central America appeared at the front door of the Sacramento Catholic Diocese. Apparently they were transported from Texas where the governor has taken a hard line on immigration. An association of local faith groups is caring for the people (who are seeking asylum) and trying to determine when and where their court hearings are scheduled. Meantime, the Attorney  General is investigating the situation, trying to determine who planned and financed the journey. Prayers, please, for these vulnerable and frightened people. May they feel the care of those who are helping them. And may those responsible be held accountable. There have been some hateful comments on the internet. Send prayers to those filled with hate that their hard hearts might soften.
