To Practice:
– Watch this video (a little more than one minute) from the Grace and Gratitude series of Contemplative Outreach. What are some of your own Grace and Gratitude moments that have occurred as you have practiced contemplative life?
– If you have some trouble transitioning into Centering Prayer or contemplative practice after a busy day or an emotional upset, work with the last part of the scripture reading. Reflect on all that is good in your life, no matter how small it might be. Really sink into your heart and feel gratitude for all these things. Perhaps draw or write some of these out in a journal to refer to later during difficult times. What do you discover in this process?
If you would like to re-read the full email reflection, you may do so here: https://mailchi.mp/coutreach/word-of-the-week-oct8

The double bind perfectly describes the apparent dissonance of being thankful some health challenges came to light as they did. When I can just stay in the liminal space and allow God to hold all that I am through the double bind, faith is increased, and new perspectives will be opened. Staying in the double bind is challenge enough for today and the days ahead. <3 linda

I am/we are given what I/we mostly deeply need when I/we have forgotten. Last night when I read this scripture there was a response of “oh yes, of course.”
It’s a very difficult time in my family right now & I am being touched more deeply than usual by family matters & world events. I give thanks for our practices & these emails, always containing so many riches – & for Centering Prayer practiced alone, & in online groups.
Despite the seemingly insurmountable challenges, there is gratitude. -
