The Beloved is trying to bring about the transformation of humans in accordance with their nature that involves a freedom of choice, and that that freedom can become more and more penetrated through love by freedom, self-surrender, acceptance, and the other attributes of God that we can participate in.
So God says, “I want you to become God too but it will only work on my terms – by your acknowledging that you’re a creature and made out of nothing. Once you accept that, you can have everything, including me!”
The Christian contemplative perspective moves things a little more firmly in that direction than the natural state of human beings in virtue of their evolution up till now because the Gospel is really a profound thrust. Transformation or movement, a revolution …evolution in the direction of deification as the Greek Orthodox spiritual writers call it--that is, grace is a participation in the divine life and is always present, always available.
So does God love us? Well, I don’t know how much more proof you need!
La contemplación y la evolución
El Amado, entonces, está tratando de producir esa transformación en los seres humanos según su naturaleza, lo que implica tener libertad de elegir, y que esa libertad sea penetrada cada vez más por medio del amor, la entrega, la aceptación y los otros atributos de Dios de los que podemos participar. Dios dice, “quiero que también se transformen en Dios, pero eso solo se cumplirá en mis términos – que reconozcan que son criaturas que han sido hechas de la nada. Una vez que acepten eso pueden tenerlo todo, incluyéndome a mi!”
La perspectiva contemplativa cristiana impulsa las cosas con más firmeza en esa dirección que lo que es el estado natural de los seres humanos según su evolución hasta el presente, porque el Evangelio significa realmente un profundo impulso, una transformación, no sé, un movimiento, una revolución… No es solo una evolución en la dirección de la deificación, como la llaman los escritores espirituales griegos ortodoxos, es decir que la gracia es una participación en la vida divina y está siempre presente, siempre a nuestra disposición.
Entonces, ¿Dios nos ama? ¡Bueno, no sé qué otra prueba necesitan!
