Centering Prayer has become a big part of my life and it seems to be an essential tool as part of being a parent.  My husband has been practicing as long as I have too so when one of us feels the interior reservoir of silence a little depleted, the other one can step in and help and it’s very obvious when I’ve forgotten my practice. So, it’s not unusual that I will tell those around me: ‘Excuse me’ and I slip away to do my practice and I’ll come back pretty much a new person. Since the birth of my youngest daughter, when I knew that she was coming, and I’d had experience of what was going to come, one of the first things I did was sat down and did Centering Prayer and my husband did it also. And then the second event was when my father was transitioning into the next life, every time I would go to visit him, it was so key to be very centered and present with him during that sweet time. And it just helps in everything.
