Centering Prayer Introductory Workshop
September 27, 2020 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
$50.00Centering Prayer is a form of Christian silent mediation where one lets go of thoughts during periods of prayer typically lasting 20 to 30 minutes.
It is rooted in the self-emptying love that forms the heart of Jesus’ teaching and life. The effect on those who practice it is an ever-increasing awareness of God’s action and presence in the course of ordinary life. Centering Prayer is not meant to replace other kinds of prayer; rather it casts a new light and depth of meaning on them. It is at the same time a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship. This method of prayer is a movement beyond conversation with Christ to communion with him.
In this introductory workshop, led by the Rev. Tom Ward, participants will learn the method and principles of this prayer practice and have the opportunity to experience this ancient method in a quiet, reflective atmosphere.
This event takes place via Zoom; to participate, you must have internet access and a computer or tablet with an internet connection.
