AN INTRODUCTION TO CENTERING PRAYER
Saturday, November 2, 2019
9:00 – 12:00
“When you pray, go to your inner room, close the door and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.” MT (6:6)
Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer based on the wisdom saying of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. It prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer in which we receive God’s presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself.
Centering Prayer is not meant to replace other types of prayer; rather it casts a new light and depth of meaning on them. Centering Prayer is at the same time a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship – a movement beyond conversation, to communion.
Join us in this introductory workshop to learn about – and experience — the practice of Centering Prayer. Appropriate for beginners and experienced practitioners wanting to refresh their practice.
