Sunday April 20: Easter All Year

To Practice:

1. Spend some time with nature in the coming week, aware of the promise of Easter in the dying-and-rising process of God’s creation. At this time of year, it may be spring or fall in your part of the planet, but either way, meditate on the “Easter DNA” that is written into everyone and everything. You might journal, draw, or create poetry based on this experience.

2. After a period of Centering or other quiet prayer, open your heart to see in some person or situation the endless possibilities of Easter life, even amid flaws, difficulties, conflicts. Ask to be a channel of new life. Perhaps a concrete opportunity to do this will arise but be assured that it often happens without our knowing.

This reflection is written after a personal Easter life experience. My husband of 40 years passed July 29. I was bedside. Surrounded in the days before by his family here, I know he was welcomed to his new life by family and all the community of saints. He experienced “the brilliant joy of Easter morning” only by passing through his own “pain, suffering” from his disease progression. What a love-filled privilege to be alongside as he “rose in the power of the Spirit.” <3 linda
