I really appreciate your comments on the artwork, Pamela. I was taken by it as well, didn’t know quite what to make of it. I think you captured it as well as it could be captured. I read up a bit on the artist and I think your “everything” take aligns with his vision. Very interesting. I had never seen the artist’s work. And I humbly venture that Tanuja would have heartily approved.

I latched onto the term “tragic gap” in this week’s reading and couldn’t grasp what Parker Palmer meant by it. This short video helped clarify the term for me.

Sure thing, Pamela. You might know this already, but “[Kandinsky] … may have had the neurological condition known as Chromesthesia, which is also known as sound-to-color synesthesia where the hearing and visual senses overlap. This condition would have undoubtedly influenced Kandinsky’s approach to art making and how he perceived music, which led to his dynamic and colorful abstract vistas on canvas,” according to the website Art in Context. Didn’t know of that condition.
… Thanks for your unfailingly insightful words and visuals each week. With deep gratitude,
    Tom

Here’s an interesting description of the Kandinsky artwork in this week’s reflection:

I loved Diane-Ellen’s comment – I believe it was, “There’s holiness in failure.” The more I thought about it, the more I agreed. What an insight. I’ve never heard anything like that but it’s certainly true. Thanks, Diane-Ellen.
