The pursuit of spirituality can evolve our consciousness, expanding our understanding of reality and opening us to see things differently – beyond our usual perception of reality cloaked by perceptions and beliefs. Knowledge of mysticism is a doorway to this evolution of our consciousness. .Karl Rahner, a 20th century theologian, wrote: “In the days ahead, you will either be a mystic (one who has experienced God for real) or nothing at all.” In this retreat, we’ll explore the nature of mysticism, mystical writers such as St. John of the Cross, and the impact of mysticism in deepening our relationship with God and transforming our everyday lives. Therese Saulnier has been praying Center Prayer for 30 years and teaching Centering Prayer and other contemplative prayer practices for over 25 years. She is a faculty member of the Contemplative Outreach, Ltd., an international organization committed to renewing the contemplative dimension of the Gospel. Therese holds an MA degree in theology, with a concentration in Spirituality, from Fordham University. As a web developer for a Fortune 100 company she offers a practical perspective on living a contemplative life in our contemporary culture.
