      To Practice

      • Prayerfully re-read these passages again in the manner of Lectio Divina, reading them aloud to engage more of your senses and feel the vibrations in your body. Gaze at the image. What do you receive for your journey now?
      • “The Welcoming Prayer is accepting what we experience in the moment because that is the present reality. What has already happened cannot be changed, but we can choose in the next moment to respond in a new way, to make a different decision, to break the pattern we are stuck in, and to do what we can to bring about change” (from Embracing Life: Welcoming Prayer online retreat). Practice the three movements of the Welcoming Prayer as a way of being vigilant and aware of your reactions and experiences of the present moment, and God’s presence with you no matter what is happening.

The  phrase “The incarnation continues in us, as us.” came alive in subtle  new awarenesses as I gazed on the image proposed this week. It’s especially at night when for no reason other that I am awake praying through the various segments of my life prompted by the gentleman making the offering of sandals without looking at the women, the women caught up in the intensities her life, not seeing the offering of the sandals, as incarnation happening in us as us. Spontaneous like a bubbling kettle the Welcome Prayer is finding an incarnational pathway.

Macrina Wiederkehr’s words speak to me: “Your homework is to be vigilant, sober, lucid, and aware. … Anticipate all the blessing that take place each day…” I must not only be present as fully as I am able, but I am also to anticipate God’s blessings. Anticipating God’s blessings sparks joy in my being. My mindset is something I can control, for the most part, via my daily centering prayer times. Draw deep from the well of silence, pour myself out with joy into all I encounter. Repeat. <3 linda

The Word of the Week calls to my mind to recognize that the spiritual journey is an ongoing process of transformation, a gradual unfolding and always becoming. Awareness, trust and acceptance of what is, with openhearted presence to the Divine Indwelling, I pause to give thanks for the always Love in Christ.

Grateful for each and everyone of you here for being… and sharing your reflections.

      Blessings, Maria.
