      Practices:

      • The next time you are with someone who you belongs to a group that holds ideas different from ones you cherish, think of one aspect of that community that you might compliment. Can you find some good to acknowledge? Make a complimentary statement to that person. Affirm the good.
      • Reflect on Contemplative Outreach’s theological principle #11, reading the principle aloud to allow the words to resonate within your body: We affirm our solidarity with the contemplative dimension of other religions and sacred traditions. United in our common search for God, we respect and honor other religions and sacred traditions and those committed to them. We engage in ecumenical and interreligious dialogue and work together in areas of social justice, ecological concerns and contemplative initiatives.” What thoughts or feelings arise as you meditate on these words?

Joan Chittister’s quote speaks volumes to Divine Love being experienced in ordinary life. We don’t need to perform “either great works or great denial.” On a daily basis, I do neither. I live a quiet life in a quiet corner of Eden. “Spirituality…calls for connectedness. It shows us how to connect with God, with others and with our inmost self.” When I pray, I know I “sit with all peoples, ‘past, present and to come.’” That is connectedness! What a wonderful summary of the power of contemplative practices. <3 linda
