Prayerfully re-read these passages again in the manner of Lectio Divina, reading them aloud to engage more of your senses and feel the vibrations in your body. Gaze at the image. What do you receive for your journey now?
You may also wish to read today’s full Gospel (Luke 5: 1-11). Use your preferred form of scriptural meditation, whether it’s Lectio Divina or imaginative contemplation, to sense God’s unique invitation to you. If it’s helpful, journal on your experience.
Pray and ponder the question: “What keeps you from lowering your nets deeper?”
Consider attending a multi-day retreat this year; you may find in-person and online options on the website calendar here. Or you may wish to create your own retreat at home, unplugging from commitments and media, adding extra periods of Centering Prayer, a time of spiritual reading (or videos from our YouTube channel), resting, body movement, etc. Even setting one day aside for retreat can be a great gift of deepening.
Fear of losing security/affection/control, which is interesting. Fear seems real, yet it does not represent our reality that we are God’s beloved. As Jesus prayed in silence, I release my illusions of losing security/affection/control, and hence my fears. Centering Prayer allows me to calm my soul enough to let God’s love surround her. Trust the process. <3 linda
