      To Practice:

      – Pray these passages again in the manner of Lectio Divina, speaking them out loud to engage your senses and affirm them in your being. What do you hear for your journey now?

Practice the Welcoming Prayer helps us to embrace the moment as it is.  Practice this prayer throughout the day, and especially before you get out of bed in the morning, as a way to set your intention for the day.

They were to take nothing for the journey. They were sent out two by two. Even though they had nothing, they had each other. They had no credentials but they had the shared  experience of the Christ. When we spend time in the darkness of silence, we need companions to be there when we emerge, willing to offer human presence and reassurance. At times, humor might be good. Otherwise, we may sink into a darkness that we cannot overcome.

“Jesus…..gave them authority over unclean spirits.”

The unclean spirits cannot endure the persistent, unrelenting love and compassion of Christ.

The loving Presence that drives them out heals me, strengthens me, until I am whole again.

The verses composed for this reflection are so rich.  I’m planning to sit with them this week. Whatever our fears or failures,  inner or outer, Christ welcomes us to bring them in and to sit with them by that beautiful inner Fire.

“The second is the inevitable result of doing something for which we are inadequate and unprepared – the experience of failure, which may be real or apparent, private or public. ” Words like “summoned” and the phrases like” Take nothing for the journey” send fear into my egoic self who in desperation is saying “when is enough enough!” And so I trustingly gaze into the image; here I am at step one, willing.

“Centering Prayer is a training school for accepting failure, unknowing and even more so, overflowing Divine Love.”

We are chosen and destined to live in Christ, as Christ, in and through our ordinary lives.”

These two quotes speak deeply to being fully present in each moment. Our daily life is our training school. A loved one’s embrace amidst acceptance of failure means so much, lets us know we tried our best and Christ still lives in us. I am holding tight to “the light of love, until you know the fire you were made of and your invitation to burn!” <3 linda

Today the little flower in the image is consenting/welcome prayer-ing traversing once again the torment of insufficiency, allowing Isaiah/Mathews readings today (common lectionary) drench my spirit….
