To Practice
- Stillness Before the Breaking: Before attending Eucharist or reading the Gospel, spend five minutes in silence. Place your hands open in your lap as a sign of receptivity. Ask gently: What do I need to offer today? What am I holding back? Allow the question to sit in your heart without forcing an answer. Let silence speak.
- Becoming Bread: In the days ahead, watch for one opportunity to give of yourself quietly and generously—especially where it costs you something. Afterward, return to prayer and reflect: How did that act connect me to Christ? How was I nourished by giving? Let this become a weekly rhythm of Eucharistic living.
- Praying with Poetry: Logos by Mary Oliver: Read Mary Oliver’s poem Logos slowly, perhaps more than once. Notice which lines draw you. Where do you feel a stirring or pause? How does the poem’s invitation to “keep faith with the small mysteries” resonate with your experience of Eucharist or silent prayer? Let the poem echo in your heart throughout the day.
