      To Practice

      • Prayerfully re-read these passages again in the manner of Lectio Divina, reading them aloud to engage more of your senses and feel the vibrations in your body. What do you hear for your journey now?
      • Listen to this song, “Take Oh Take Me As I Am” (less than two minutes) and pray with what comes up for you.
      • Notice if there are parts of you that you disapprove of, deny/or hide from yourself and God.  Ask for grace to accept these parts of yourself and bring them into God’s compassionate presence for healing.

“Where am I?  Who am I?”  There is a third question: “Why am  ?”  Why am I in this place at this time? “  The answer has been different at different times in my life. But perhaps the all encompassing answer is: to be fully present to this life that I have  been given, moment by moment.

I love the addition of your third question, Sue.  When I think about it, all of these questions are very dynamic, if one continues to be present to them throughout life. – Pamela

I hear two profound questions appropriate for my journey: where are you and who are you? God asks the first. Father Keating posed the second. When, through centering prayer I am able to put aside myself and come naked into God’s Presence, I can honestly answer “here I am, Lord, your loving daughter. Speak, for your servant is listening.” I can hear God’s loving reply in the silence, and it brings me to tears. <3 linda

The song “Take O Take Me as I Am” really grabbed me, maybe more so because I wasn’t expecting it. It evokes a response that goes right to my heart. I’m still sitting and praying with it and I expect that I will be for a while. Whether or not I eventually find words for all of this, doesn’t really matter. I know it is “doing something” within me.

Sitting into “Take me, O take me as  as I am” gazing on the image just pulled me through the center blue rectangle edged in red, into that place tending, allowing, accepting. This week two important discernments are “budding”. One discernment almost twenty years during which it seemed one of our discerning partners became silent. The whole of the image would represent how I dealt with this. Then this week, a “budding” move forward in the second discernment begun September 2022. Both have steeped me in ” Thankful, Grateful, Blessed” and my response one of blessing those taking up the torch into the unknown.
“Contemplation provides us with the courage to face the second great question of the spiritual journey: Who are you?” I am the breath  of the SPIRIT, one breathing cycle in/out at a time, at a time. Just showing up, thankful, grateful, blessed!
